How do today's choir leaders and conductors view choir activities? Why is it important to keep driving? How do you work artistically and educationally to develop the choir and yourself as a choir director? What is important to focus on in the training of new choir leaders and choir singers? How can driving life develop in Sweden and what does the future look like? In this book, we meet twenty-five prominent choir leaders from different parts of Sweden, all with extensive experience in various types of choir work, who give their views on these and other questions. Together, they provide a kaleidoscopic picture of what it means to be a choir director today. The book is addressed to choir directors and choir singers, to music students and teachers, but also to everyone who is involved in cultural and association activities and interested in an inside perspective on musical learning and creation.
Karin Johansson trained as a church musician at the Malmö Academy of Music (MHM) and has since 1985 worked as a church musician, organ teacher and freelance organist. Together with Ursula Geisler, she initiated the international choral research network Choir in Focus in 2009. A cappella is produced by Lena Ekman Frisk at Körcentrum Syd, Lund University.
