Lux Aeterna for choir and chamber orchestra was composed for and dedicated to the Los Angeles Master Chorale and its eminent conductor Paul Salamunovich, who conducted the premiere on April 13, 1997. The work is in five movements, performed consecutively. The sacred texts are in Latin and are all about light. The work begins and ends with the text from the first and last movement of the requiet and the texts of the three central movements are taken from Te deum, O Nata Lux (which can also be ordered separately) and Veni, Sancte Spiritus. Lux Aeterna can be performed with either choir and orchestra or choir and organ alto grand piano. The orchestral arrangement is flute, oboe, clarinet in A, bassoon, two horns in F and bass trombone.
