On the occasion of the Luther Year 2016, the Stockholm Diocese's Hymn Association announced a composition competition. I submitted two entries. Both went to the finals and received prizes but not in the classes I had originally intended. I surrender received 2nd prize in the Youth Choir category but was written with a standard four-part adult choir in mind. The "Åå" of the subparts in bars 1–10 with the parallel passage in bars 27–32 can be replaced with con bocca chiusa. Those interested in music theory can look in the soprano and alto parts for a tritone interval (diabolus in musica, "the devil in music") and compare it with the lyrics right there.
