Léon Boëllmann (1862-1897) studied at the École Niedermeyer and was titular organist at Saint-Vincent-de-Paul in Paris. His compositions follow in the tradition of Saint-Saëns, Franck, Fauré and Gigout, reflecting the elegant and extravagant style of the belle époque.
