Text: Ps. 65:15

"Rescue me from sinking in the mire"  is a short, intense piece, which is about the cry: the cry outwards - loud, to draw attention and be heard far, and the cry inwards - focused, almost soundless, like a prayer.

The singer performs a "kulning," a vocal technique once used in mountain pastures to call animals and communicate over long distances. Together with the alto saxophone, this creates a very special and distinctive sound.

Rädda mig ur dyn was composed for the opening of the ISCM World Music Days in Stockholm in 1994, and was performed at the Vasa Museum with the musicians standing on the deck of the regal ship Vasa. The piece was meant to allude to the shipwreck in 1628, but gained a sudden and tragic relevance due to the Estonia disaster, which occurred a few days earlier.
