The songs in this booklet come from widely spread musical traditions. You will find folk songs from Africa, Argentina, the Philippines, Ireland, the USA, the Caribbean etc. in a varied mix. A novelty in the choir is that some songs from the Sephardic (Spanish-Jewish) tradition have been included, which gives the music an oriental flavor. The deliberately simple arrangements are made for the SAB choir, adapted to the reality of many choirs, namely with fewer men than women. With some exceptions, the singers are entirely a cappella, although an improvised and careful accompaniment can of course have its place if desired.
