Lotta Lotas' New Poems is a suite of 36 verses, all in the same rhythmic form of six lines. Next to the verses in Lotas' poetry collection are pictures of elephants in captivity. Black and white images from what appear to be circuses at the beginning of the 20th century in the USA. The heavy sadness the little elephant eyes radiate in this pitiful prison! The verses begin with an unfinished conditional, "Could I," but are never followed by the liberating "so would I." Timelessly, one wishes to go away, out of prison and into freedom. Ulrika's selection of verses is divided into three movements: Stumnad - Shimmer - Genklang, written for a six-part choir a cappella. The work was commissioned by Sveriges Radio to Sofia Vokalensemble with conductor Bengt Ollén and premiered in Sofia church in Stockholm on April 23, 2023.
