In this book, in the light of some historical comments, I want to present my personal views on Bach's music and the function and performance of the motets in our time. The analysis of "Der Geist hilft unserer Schwachheit auf" and "Komm, Jesu, komm" contains examples of what I consider to be central and urgent in the performance of Bach's motets.
