New choral music autumn 2025 – for the advanced choir

New music for mixed choir a cappella by Taja Astar, Anna Cederberg-Orreteg, David Saulesco, Tina Andersson and Anna-Karin Klockar.

We welcome Ukrainian Taja Astar as a new composer at Gerhmans! Together with her wife, Anna Astar (lyrics), she has written Cranes Coming Home for SSAATTBB a cappella, inspired by the cranes' dance over Lake Hornborga. Evocative, dance-like and orchestral.

David Saulesco also uses birds as a theme: in his Pie pellicane, Jesu Domine he focuses on the pelican as a symbol of Christ. A three-part motet for SATB a cappella with text by the 13th-century Italian philosopher and theologian Thomas Aquinas , where the first part is dramatic and challenging, the middle part festive and the last part finely tuned.

Tina Andersson has set a text by the American poet, teacher and author Lucy Larcom in the piece Plant a Tree for SATB a cappella, about the importance of the forest: he who plants a tree plants hope, peace and love. Here there is wind and whistles, improvisation and short solos.

Anna Cederberg-Orreteg has once again collaborated with Anna Höglund , who wrote the hopeful lyrics for Be Brave , dedicated to the Springfield Chamber Chorus in the USA and their artistic director Chris Brammer and premiered in April.

Anna-Karin Klockar has set her friend's words to music for SSAATTBB a cappella. In Bara så (Only like that) the author Cecilia Wilhelmsson writes about forgiving and not blaming yourself for someone else's choices.
