Rasmus Krigström – Choral Concductor of the Year 2026

The Rosenborg-Gehrmans Foundation and the Swedish Choral Directors Association (FSK) Scholarship, Choral Conductor of the Year 2026, worth SEK 50,000, has been awarded to Rasmus Krigström.

Citation from the jury:

"Through his innovative approaches to choral work, the Choral Conductor of the Year 2026 enriches Sweden’s choral landscape and makes choral singing relevant and appealing even to audiences unfamiliar with the art form. The Choral Conductor of the Year demonstrates that it is possible within a single choir to move effortlessly between different genres while maintaining the highest artistic standards throughout, all with an exceptional stage presence.

The conductor’s most widely acclaimed choir is a male choir which, together with its leader, has achieved significant media attention in a remarkably short time, benefiting the Swedish choral community as a whole. The choir serves as an outstanding role model for precisely the group we need more of: singing boys and men."

The scholarship was presented on Friday, 2 October, in conjunction with the FSK Choral Conductors’ Convention in Östersund.

Rosenborg Gehrmans Foundation for Swedish Music was established in 1950.
