To Be a Human for SSATB a cappella is a commissioned work for the performance Existence, which premiered on the Gothenburg Opera's main stage in May 2022. The piece was written for the choir Arctic Light and the Gothenburg Opera's Youth Choir and specifically deals with the existential question: To be human - what is it ? The piece contains flowing legato lines as well as rhythmic turns, influences of yojk and free expanses, but also references to the UN declaration on human rights and Shakespeare's epic question: To be or not to be – that is the question – to finally end in the question that probably many of us can identify with: Is it enough to just be me?
