The Austrian expressionist painter Egon Schiele also wrote poems. This was noticed by the Brazilian conductor Celso Antunes, and the texts became the starting point for a composition assignment from the Netherlands Radio to Sven-David Sandström, with a premiere in June 2009.
In the work, the composer returns to the virtuosic style that has earned him such international attention. Precisely the spirit of expressionism which e.g. in Schiele corresponds to a great extent to Sandström's music.
