Songs from the North is a piece for mixed choir by Karin Rehnqvist with texts by indigenous people from Greenland and Alaska. It's about life, about what it is to be human. The piece begins without words, in unison, with a melody that then grows into polyphony and with text. Karin writes that "The choir is a group of people. You can sing with and against each other. You can stand some distance from each other or close together. Most important are; those who sing and dance together do not make war.”
