With this version, you can perform Fredrik Sixten's great Requiem with only one instrument, an organ, instead of an orchestra of about 25 musicians.
The version requires an organ that has at least 3 manuals and pedal. The edition can be used by the organist and the conductor, as the piano excerpt (GE 11184) is intended for soloists and choir.
"When my close friend Patrik Runeke became seriously ill and died – only 37 years old – I was overwhelmed by emotions and thoughts about life and death. It was very natural for me to turn to Bengt Pohjanen, with whom I had already collaborated before, to ask him to articulate:
- words of anger and gratitude
- words of guilt and forgiveness
- words of comfort, of love and of hope.
Bengt's words, combined with the Latin requie texts, become a testament to humanity's quest for unity and perfection. In the last movement, In Paradisum, this quest is carried forward to God, who Bengt describes as: Wisdom, depth and love. Stronger than death.”
