"I wanted to write songs that are fun, beautiful, swing and that challenge the children musically, factually and linguistically. Said and done. I have sung them in a choir project with all students in year 1 in Nässjö municipality, via the Culture School. Both students and teachers have afterwards told me about how the songs came about and that they sing them at school, when the children learn about space. Before the book was printed, teachers asked for the music and notes because the students still ask for them do not wish!

The songs are best suited to singing with children of primary school age, but of course also younger and older. You can choose to sing just a few individual songs or all of them in their entirety as they stand and at the same time get a good setup for a concert or a performance. This then begins with musings about space, how to get there, what happens there and is finally rounded off in peppy schlager spirit. At the end of the book you will find more tips on layout.

When rehearsing the songs, I would like to advise adding movements that reinforce certain key words, but also images that describe the songs. Next to each song there is therefore a box with suggested movements. Feel free to use them, or come up with your own. The movements are adapted for a group of up to 25 children in choir formation and are often facing forward so that the singing does not risk not being heard. If you would rather see and imitate the movements, there is a QR code in the book where you can see the movements.

Since we absorb knowledge in different ways, I usually let the children activate as many senses as possible, but with an emphasis on movement. All in accordance with rhythmic pedagogy, which is based on putting the learning into muscle memory and letting the whole body participate in the process, from learning to musical expression."

Good luck!
