Lotta Lotass is active as an author, playwright and literary writer. Ulrika Emanuelsson has previously set her texts to music in the suite I det vitt ofyllda for SATB. Two stanzas from the same poetry collection, Nya dikter (New Poems), are found here for soprano soloist and SSAA a cappella.
If I, like breaths,
could be driven out among the currents of the air,
in the high, deep, wide expanse,
be like the free wind.
If I, like a bow, like a sigh,
could become one with wild storms.
If I, like the swallow, could trill,
sail over mountains and plains,
feel the warm currents of the air
fill my light wings.
If I could reach the distant home
before darkness falls.
