Reading Music with the Whole Body is a book that conveys knowledge about teaching music reading through eurhythmics and body based learning. It includes both theoretical content and a wide range of practical exercises. This book is an independent follow-up to the widely appreciated Playing Music with the Whole Body.
Reading Music with the Whole Body is written by Eva Nivbrant Wedin and mainly focuses on the initial stages of teaching music reading. It is divided into three parts: the basics of music reading, rhythmic music reading and melodic music reading. The goal is to help students “crack the code” so they can read music fluently.
The author provides methods and exercises based on three areas of knowledge, where theory and practice are woven together:
• pedagogy and knowledge about how learning takes place
• research and experience in reading and writing instruction
• eurhythmics and body-based learning.
The book includes practical tools and inspiring methods for different situations, purposes, and levels.
