"This Missa brevis is written for choir SSA, cello and marimba, but it is also possible to perform without the marimba part. In such a case, apart from the loss of the timbre intended, the harmonics and rhythms are lost in some places. Even some parts where the marimba imitates the cello are lost. In a missa brevis (short mass) it is not uncommon for the textually extensive Credo movement to be omitted. So also in this composition. In order to further shorten the length of the mass, a technique has been used in parts in the Gloria set which, among other things, Haydn used and which means that the choral parts sing different parts of the text at the same time. The entire mass takes 10–12 minutes to perform.” - Mattias Ekström Koij
