It may seem bold to give Lina Sandell's beautiful text a new melody; there really is nothing wrong with Oscar Ahnfeldt's classic. But the melody and setting came about for a special reason. Carin Åkesson's vocal ensemble Iris would make a program with only female lyricists and composers. And they wanted to sing just Blott one day. So it had to be a new composition. The song is written in the Swedish folk tradition for four female parts and with a unison melody presentation. Carin Åkesson has for many years been a musician in the Bethlehem church in Gothenburg.
