For decades, Gunnar Eriksson has devoted himself to the songs of vispoet Elisabet Hermodsson. There are many arrangements of her songs for mixed choir. Now there are also several arrangements for women's choir, including in this collection with nine songs from Hermodsson's Disa Nilson's songs, the lyrical-humorous response to Birger Sjöberg's songs about the "weapon" Frida and her wise-cracking friend, the butler.
"I first arranged Disa Nilsson's songs for Elisabet Hermodsson's own deep alto voice and orchestra on the LP Vakna furst i summertid. Then they came in settings for mixed choir and now for the first time for perhaps the most obvious instrument - women's choir. Over time, they have appeared in various functions: as lyrical reflections on life's hardships or joys, as political contributions in debates or as a basis for entertaining puppet shows with an implied sequence of events. The preface to the book Disa Nilson's visor can easily provide inspiration for more scenic whims. This is said as an encouragement to form contexts where the texts in particular get their proper value. Musically, they are suitable for everything from singing a cappella to more or less instrumental participation. With accompaniment, the driving rates can also be reduced if necessary. Feel free to tie improvisations to the songs.” - Gunnar Eriksson
