MODUS NOVUS – Studies in reading atonal melodies is an attempt to tackle the problems with the reading of 20th-century music that is not major/minor-tonal. It has been evolved out of the author’s practical experience as a teacher in aural training at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm. Text in English, German and Swedish with musical examples from Bartók, Blomdahl, Martin, Schoenberg, Bäck, Stravinsky, Hindemith, Berg and others.
