During many years of collaboration on the percussion education at SMI (Stockholm's Institute of Music Education), the percussion educators Anders Holdar and Joakim Anterot have developed ideas about interaction under the name Nu-musik. The subtitle "Music created now to be played immediately" reveals an important basic principle: All material should be able to be presented to an audience after a short period of work. The audience can be parents who are going to pick up their children, someone from the school's office, a teaching colleague in the next room, yes, anyone who wants to share what the children have come up with after a while of practicing.
This is the starting point: * All work is done towards a goal in sight, a performance or concert * A varied concert program is sought; rhythmic, sonorous, theatrical * The work is done by ear, without sheet music * Everyone who participates is involved and influences the design of the music * The music must be playable by students at different levels
The focus is on joint creation and the teacher's ability to produce a sound result in a short time. Here, the path is as important as the destination!
The film is primarily aimed at those who work with teaching in primary schools or music and culture schools, but also composers, actors and music lovers in general can certainly find something inspiring in the film. Percussion is fantastic. The powerful and the delicate go hand in hand. The sound possibilities are endless. It is usually very easy to get up to speed on the groups. Dare to unleash your own and the group's imagination and enjoy the creative chaos that ensues!
The DVD comes with a 24-page booklet where the film's methodology and pedagogical ideas are explained and developed. The film was made by Bengt Danneborn and the percussionists Anders Holdar and Joakim Anterot. Anders Holdar is one of the founders of the world-famous percussion ensemble Kroumata. He works as a teacher at SMI, college of music education in Stockholm. Joakim Anterot is a teacher at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm and a freelance percussionist at the Royal Opera and the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra. "My warmest recommendations for this entertaining and educational percussion DVD! Prof. Markus Leoson, Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt, Weimar, Germany "Provides fresh insight into developing creativity, musical expression and percussion technique through an ensemble setting.
