Web comment by the composer: "When, during the composers' festival in Stockholm's concert hall in 2008, I had the unlikely opportunity to hear live for ten days the result of ten years of composing my own orchestral music, this appeared as a decisive point in my creation. An intersection between what was and what was to come .Concerto for Orchestra (2008) has many associations with my previous works since Dreams (1995). The Concerto for Orchestra has three contrasting movements, but more interesting is that throughout the compositional process the work went its own way and did not follow any large set form. The work did not turn out as I had originally planned. I didn't want to force the music but let it develop in its own direction. Perhaps the strongest reason why it almost felt joyful to let go was that I felt that I was facing a new ten-year period where the need to move forward towards new discoveries has grown stronger recently. When I made my artistic decision that resulted in Dreams, I also left behind the idea of doing something completely new in each individual work at all costs. I think that too much focus on being original at all costs can hinder the possibilities of really going deep with a material and a technique, especially if you limit each new idea and technique to a single work, composed over a shorter period of time. It has been a liberation for me to repeatedly have the same or similar starting point for composing for such a long time, as I allowed myself to cultivate and deepen my own 'style'."
