Anders Eliasson is of course one of the most important and internationally respected voices in Nordic music. His work is consistently characterized by a strong expression, combined with an equally strong spiritual dimension. "Anders Eliasson is the Béla Bartók of our time" - the words are Sergiu Celibidaches. Ulf Wallin, who premiered the work, emphasizes that Eliasson's music is not "contemporary", it is timeless. As poignant and captivating as it is uncompromising and ascetic, not a note could be subtracted from or added to the half-hour long, one-movement violin concerto Ensam färd. It was written for Wallin at the request of Sveriges Radio og Rikskonserter, and was added in a very close collaboration between soloist and composer. The result is an extremely demanding concert, both technically and musically. Traveling alone? Such is the human journey of life, regardless of the environment.
