The study of harmony in music education has long been focused on tuning. In Traditional Harmonics, the musical movement is treated in a different way, with methodological innovation. The ambition is that the ear for chords should develop as the harmonic awareness increases. Different chords and chord progressions are highlighted in exercises where you work with

• singing and playing
• analysis
• composition
• harmonization
• intonation

Traditional harmony education consists of a textbook and three workbooks for study at three different levels. The backbone consists of nearly 1,000 music samples. The genre-wise emphasis is on baroque music, Viennese classical music, romantic music and songs, with an outlook towards 16th-century music as well as jazz and popular music. The material has a well-thought-out progression and a lot of good advice is given regarding the student's own work methodology. It can be used by music students from the music line/aesthetic program to university and for self-study.

Traditional harmony theory has been developed in the teaching at Kungl. The Academy of Music in Stockholm, where both authors work as teachers.
