Web comment by the composer: " Open Mind is an opening piece, an orchestral overture. The title partly refers to the fact that the work is intended to be a short opening piece in a concert program, but also to an openness to freely choose expressions as a composer with an open mind to musical ideas, gestures and styles and with a strong desire to communicate. Harmonic structures, melodic lines and ideas about a colorful instrumentation are the basis for the composition of Open Mind. A nine-tone scale is the starting point for the musical tonal material, but at the same time it is a contrast to the more freely treated form parts."
