Daniel Börtz receives the Music Publishers' honorary award

With a career that spans six decades, Daniel Börtz has created a unique and colorful musical treasure that left a big mark on Swedish art music. His compositions, often characterized by a strong emotional intensity and a fearless exploration of the limits of music, have made him one of Sweden's most prominent composers. Daniel Börtz is now awarded the Swedish Music Publishers' honorary prize 2024.

"With his ability to combine deep musical complexity with strong emotional resonance, Daniel Börtz has created works that not only touch, but also challenge. During a long and brilliant career, he has explored the extreme limits of music with great sensitivity and artistic integrity, always with a sound world that reflects both the human and the otherworldly. This is part of the justification for Daniel Börtz being awarded the Swedish Music Publishers' honorary award.

 - I am extremely grateful for this award and for all the appreciation I have received from the industry recently - not least in connection with my 80th birthday last year. It feels both overwhelming and amazing at the same time. The energy and inspiration this recognition has given me means that, despite my 81 years, I feel more motivated than ever to continue creating and composing. I am deeply grateful for all the warmth and encouragement I have received, says Daniel Börtz.

The prize is awarded at a gala at Artipelag on 8 November.
