Cecilia Damström's Earth Songs premieres in Tampere
On Wednesday 18 September, Cecilia Damström's violin concerto Earth Songs will be premiered in Tampere Hall. Soloist Elina Vähälä and chamber ensemble Tampere Raw perform under the direction of Maria Itkonen, with video projections by Marek Pluciennik.
Earth Songs is a violin concerto in seven movements, each movement serving as a love song to different aspects of our planet and its delicate ecosystems.
"This is probably one of the most light-filled works I have ever written. There are virtuosic violin solos, whistling, singing, love songs to our earth and fantastic video projections by Marek! I hope to awaken compassion for our planet through the music," says Cecilia.
