They are nominated for the Music Publishers' Prize 2024

We congratulate Johan Ullén, Benjamin Staern and Daniel Börtz who have been nominated for the Swedish Music Publishers' Prize 2024 in the art music classes. The winners will be presented during an awards gala at Artipelag on Friday 8 November.

Here you will find the jury's justifications:

Johan Ullén: Don't Go Without Me
Anchored in the art musical tradition, Johan Ullén has written this song for soprano and piano with text by the 13th-century Persian poet Rumi, here translated into English by Jonathan Star. The result is immediately captivating and accessible.

Benjamin Staern: Hymn Aquarius
Hymnus Aquarius is a concerto for soprano saxophone and symphonic wind orchestra written to pay attention to the recovery of the Baltic Sea. Different types of sea sounds are combined with fragments of Baltic folk songs in this imaginative and colorful piece.

Daniel Börtz: Sinfonia 15 (Gehrmans)
In this palpably chamber musical symphony, Daniel Börtz shows once again why he has been one of Sweden's leading composers for more than half a century. With an unfailing sense for timbre and lines he creates troubled music for troubled times.
