Sofia Söderberg is Choir Leader of the Year 2024
The Rosenborg-Gehrmans Foundation and the Association of Swedish Choir Leaders' joint scholarship Choir Leader of the Year 2024 of SEK 50,000 has been awarded to Sofia Söderberg . The scholarship was awarded on Friday 18 October in connection with the Lund Choral Festival.
The jury's reasoning:
"The Choir Leader of the Year is a skilled conductor and musician with many strings to his lyre. The Choir Leader of the Year is a strong artistic personality who, together with his ensembles, explores and challenges prevailing norms and concert forms, with touching performances as a result.
The experiences as a performing instrumentalist, composer, arranger and choir conductor give the Choir Leader of the Year a spectacular breadth, both in terms of competence and style. This year's Choir Leader's path has also been lined with many prestigious assignments, such as guest conductor at a number of professional choral and orchestral institutions.
This year's Choir Leader combines artistic integrity and precision with a strong commitment to choral singing as both a means and an end in various burning topics, such as the climate and public health. All without compromising the artistic height. This year's choir director is therefore an extremely good role model and inspirer for both new and experienced conducting colleagues."
