The La Cappella Composition Award is part of the renowned women's choir's 40th anniversary. The jury's motivation reads:

"Grain is awarded first prize for its artistic innovation and exploration of the sonic possibilities of the women's choir. Through subtle shifts between vowels and consonants, the composer creates a rich and vibrant soundscape where the timbre itself is central. The work utilizes the special expressive potential of the women's choir in a compelling and original way. The high artistic ambition is combined with good singability, and the work's demand for responsiveness and concentration makes it both a challenging and developing experience for the participating singers."

Grain will be available for sale from September 2026, when it will also be included in the subscription mailing for Körfokus Extra. Read more about our subscriptions here.
