Mats Larsson Gothe's Symphony No. 4 premieres at the Baltic Sea Festival

On Saturday 31 August, Mats Larsson Gothe's Symphony No. 4 will be premiered at the Baltic Sea Festival's final concert in Berwaldhallen. The Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra plays under the direction of Marta Gardolinska.

"Symphony No. 4 is absolute music. It has no program, it follows no narrative. It does not depict something extra-musical that I wanted to translate into music. In this way, I leave it open for the listener to associate freely or create their own images, depending on how one perceives music", writes Mats Larsson Gothe in his work comment and continues: "But from my personal perspective, I can also add that I was very angry when I wrote the symphony. Angry that one country invaded another country in an unprovoked full-scale invasion. The anger over this caused the music in the symphony to occasionally explode... A music of life and death, but a music that also contains resting points of beauty."
