WORLD PREMIERE Tobias Broström's Symphony No. 2!
Tobias Broström started his career as a percussionist and is known for his rhythmically powerful music. In 2022, the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra premiered his first symphony (Albedo) – now it's time for Symphony No. 2. On May 27 and 28, it will be performed for the very first time by the GSO and Santtu-Matias Ruovali.
Tobias Broström himself talks about his second symphony:
"Here, the listener encounters everything from delicate, ethereal passages, where strings and celesta create dreamlike landscapes, to massive, rhythmically charged outbursts where the entire orchestra is set in motion. Throughout the work, there is a sense of movement and transformation; themes transform and timbres shift like light over a landscape. It is music that demands its place and invites the listener on a journey through shimmering sound worlds and dramatic contrasts."
